Feel like yourself
again.
Hormone changes can affect far more than one lab value. Energy, sleep, mood, sexual health, body composition, temperature regulation, strength, concentration, and overall quality of life can all change when hormones change.
Lush Health offers individualized hormone evaluation and ongoing management for women and men through our BHRT and testosterone replacement programs.
Sometimes “getting older” isn't the whole explanation.
Hormone levels change throughout adulthood. For some people those changes are barely noticeable. For others, they can meaningfully affect how they sleep, think, feel, recover, function, and experience everyday life.
The answer is not automatically hormone therapy—and we do not believe everyone needs to be treated simply because a number falls somewhere on a laboratory report.
We look at symptoms, health history, appropriate laboratory testing, goals, risk factors, and the clinical picture together before recommending a treatment plan.
Use the numbers to help tell the story.
Different hormones. Same thoughtful approach.
Women's hormone therapy and men's testosterone replacement are managed differently, but both begin with the same principle: symptoms, testing, history, risks, and goals all matter.
BHRT
Individualized hormone care for women experiencing symptoms related to perimenopause, menopause, or clinically meaningful hormone changes.
Treatment may include estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, or other options when clinically appropriate. The regimen depends on your symptoms, medical history, anatomy, laboratory findings, and treatment goals.
TRT
Testosterone replacement therapy is designed for men with symptoms of testosterone deficiency and an appropriate clinical and laboratory evaluation supporting treatment.
The goal is not to push testosterone as high as possible. The goal is to restore an appropriate physiologic level while improving symptoms and monitoring safety.
More than a prescription.
Hormone treatment should not be a prescription sent once and forgotten. Response, symptoms, laboratory values, side effects, and treatment goals can all change over time.
Our monthly hormone subscription provides continued access to the Lush hormone program and the clinical follow-up needed to manage treatment over time.
Know what is included—and what isn't.
Monthly Membership
Your monthly program fee covers access to the hormone program, ongoing visits, laboratory review, treatment monitoring, and management according to your individual plan.
Laboratory Testing
Laboratory testing is required at selected points before and during treatment and is not included in the monthly program price.
Some laboratory testing may be eligible for insurance coverage depending on the laboratory, test, medical indication, and your individual insurance plan. Coverage cannot be guaranteed.
Medication
Medication cost is separate from the monthly program fee. Prescriptions and doses are individualized, so medication pricing varies.
Depending on the medication and treatment plan, prescriptions may be available through a local pharmacy or delivered directly to your home.
The conversation has changed.
Many women were taught for years that menopause hormone therapy was broadly dangerous. Our understanding is considerably more nuanced today.
Current menopause guidance recognizes hormone therapy as the most effective treatment for bothersome hot flashes and night sweats and an effective option for many genitourinary symptoms. Hormone therapy also prevents bone loss and reduces fracture risk.
For appropriately selected healthy women who begin systemic therapy before age 60 or within about 10 years of menopause onset, the overall benefit-risk profile is generally considered favorable when bothersome symptoms are present.
TRT deserves the same nuance.
Testosterone replacement has also carried years of concern about cardiovascular safety.
More recent large-scale evidence has been reassuring when testosterone is used for appropriately diagnosed hypogonadism and patients are monitored correctly. That does not make testosterone a wellness supplement or something every tired man should automatically receive.
TRT should begin with symptoms plus an appropriate evaluation confirming testosterone deficiency and should include continued monitoring throughout treatment.
Good hormone care talks about both.
A hormone program should never sell only the upside. Benefits and risks vary significantly between women and men and by the specific treatment being considered.
Potential Benefits
- Relief of bothersome hot flashes and night sweats with appropriate menopausal hormone therapy
- Improvement in selected vaginal and genitourinary symptoms
- Prevention of menopausal bone loss and reduction in fracture risk
- Improvement in low libido and selected sexual symptoms when hormone deficiency is contributing
- Improvement in selected symptoms of confirmed testosterone deficiency in men
- Potential improvement in lean body mass, bone density, and anemia with TRT in appropriately selected men
- Improvement in quality of life when treatment addresses symptoms that are genuinely hormone-related
Potential Risks + Considerations
- Blood clot and stroke risk can vary with estrogen formulation, route, dose, age, and individual risk factors
- Breast risk is influenced by treatment type, duration, baseline risk, and individual history
- Systemic estrogen without adequate endometrial protection can increase endometrial cancer risk in women who still have a uterus
- Testosterone may increase hematocrit and requires blood monitoring
- Testosterone may increase blood pressure in some patients
- TRT can suppress sperm production and affect fertility
- Acne, fluid retention, breast symptoms, hair changes, mood changes, or other medication-specific side effects can occur
- Certain medical conditions or histories may make hormone therapy inappropriate or require a different approach
There is no universal hormone prescription.
Two people can have similar symptoms and need completely different treatment plans.
Medication choice, dose, route, monitoring, and goals are customized according to the individual patient rather than forcing everyone into a predetermined protocol.
Not yet—but stay tuned.
Lush Health does not currently offer hormone pellet therapy. Our present hormone programs use other individualized medication options that can be adjusted as your needs change.
Pellet therapy may be added as an option in the future.
Hormones come with questions.
What does “bioidentical” hormone therapy mean?
Bioidentical generally refers to hormones with a molecular structure identical to hormones naturally produced by the human body. The word “bioidentical” does not automatically mean a treatment is safer or appropriate for every patient. Formulation, dose, route, clinical indication, and monitoring still matter.
Is hormone replacement therapy safe?
Hormone therapy has benefits and risks, and safety depends heavily on the individual patient and the therapy being considered. Current evidence is considerably more nuanced than the broad fear surrounding hormone therapy decades ago. Appropriate patient selection, timing, medication choice, dosing, and monitoring are essential.
Does hormone therapy cause breast cancer?
The relationship is not adequately described by a simple yes or no. Breast cancer risk varies with the type of hormone therapy, duration of treatment, baseline breast cancer risk, age, and other factors. Hormone treatment should be individualized rather than assuming every formulation carries the same risk.
Is TRT bad for the heart?
Earlier concerns led to significant caution around testosterone. More recent large-scale cardiovascular research in men with confirmed hypogonadism did not show an increased rate of major cardiovascular events compared with placebo. Testosterone can increase blood pressure and has other potential risks, so appropriate monitoring remains necessary.
Do I need lab work?
Yes, laboratory testing is required at appropriate points depending on the hormone program and medication being considered. Testing helps determine whether treatment is appropriate and allows ongoing safety and response monitoring.
Are labs included in the monthly program?
No. Laboratory costs are separate from the monthly program fee. Some laboratory testing may be covered by insurance depending on your plan, the laboratory, and the medical indication. Insurance coverage cannot be guaranteed.
Are medications included in the subscription?
No. Medication is separate because treatment regimens vary between patients. The medication selected, dose, formulation, pharmacy, and delivery method all influence cost.
Can my medication be sent to my house?
Depending on the prescription and pharmacy used, medications may be available through a local pharmacy or shipped directly to your home. Available options vary by medication and treatment plan.
How quickly will I feel better?
Response varies. Some symptoms may begin improving relatively early, while others change gradually over time. Hormone therapy is not assessed based on one good or bad day; symptoms, laboratory findings, side effects, and overall response are reviewed over time.
Will you prescribe hormones just because my level is low?
Not necessarily. Laboratory values are only one part of the evaluation. Symptoms, health history, repeat testing when appropriate, risk factors, treatment goals, and the clinical context all influence whether treatment makes sense.
Do you offer pellets?
Not currently. Lush Health presently uses hormone treatment options that can be adjusted over time. Pellet therapy is something we may add in the future.
What happens at the free consultation?
The complimentary consultation is an opportunity to discuss the hormone program, learn how evaluation and ongoing treatment work, ask questions about costs and monitoring, and determine whether you would like to move forward with a full clinical evaluation.
You don't have to guess
whether hormones are part of it.
Start with a conversation. We'll explain the program, what evaluation involves, what hormone therapy can—and cannot—reasonably do, and whether taking the next step makes sense for you.
